How do you decide which technology or programming language to learn next?

Honestly, I learn the language that appears to solve my current problem. Usually it's an academic exercise but it has ended up being very useful for my career. I learned Python while coding PHP. My next job was primarily Python. When I was there I learned Go. My next job (eventually) used a lot of Go.
But I have also taken a few "leaps of faith." I took a job that uses Clojure, which I had zero experience with. I took a job that uses Elixir which I also had no actual experience with. I do feel like I can jump into almost any language or framework and be relatively effective now. So lately, I've focused my efforts on learning Go and network protocols at a deeper level.
