@sudorandom

1. Undisciplined email obsession.
2. Not managing rabbit holes while researching.
3. Not journaling my life well enough.

@aravsanj

Email can take up so much time if not managed. I've unsubscribed from everything I possibly can and opt, instead, for rss feeds and only allow myself a limited time to read RSS.

Journaling is basically a super power. I sometimes read back on work journals from several years ago and I am astonished at some of the things I've worked on.

@sudorandom That's great to hear. I wonder how you journal? I personally use the Day One app from Automattic.

@aravsanj I also use day one. I think I've been using since (excuse the pun) day one of when the app was released. My early entries are absolute garbage but over time I got better at explaining things in a way I would understand years later.

But yeah, Day One. I haven't always been consistent but there's enough entries that every day has some interesting entries looking back years. I'm currently revisiting my planning to move to Denmark now. It's so interesting to read back at the thought processes and how quickly things went from "maybe one day" to "okay, we are moving in a couple months so we have to get rid of most everything that we own"

Procrastination. I will subconsciously avoid tasks that are uncomfortable for me and I procrastinate by doing literally anything else. I actually get a lot of praise when I do this sometimes because the "fun" tasks for me are high visibility, high impact and high return tasks.... But sometimes you've got to do the boring thing.
